The creation of information and reference systems in the field of tourism is an urgent task. The need for a comprehensive study and centralized presentation of information on Russian tourism on the Internet confirms the relevance of the study. The introduction of information systems in the tourism industry can facilitate the collection, processing and monitoring of information on tourism and recreational resources, the creation of a comfortable information environment for guests and residents of the destination, reducing the cost of production of products and services, providing an operative exchange of information resources and experience in tourism. The article analyzes the existing information and communication technologies in the sphere of tourism, generalizes the experience of creating tourist information and reference and information-analytical systems. As a result of the analysis it was established that the information on the available tourist potential of the Russian regions is presented in these systems in fragmentary form. The main reasons for the information deficit are insufficient and extremely superficial awareness of the creators of such information resources about the technologies of tourist design, forms of tourism, their features. The second reason is the disunity of participants in tourist activities. The authors proposed the structure of the database of ecological tourism in the Belgorod region, which can become part of the information and analytical system of the regional level. The database will include information on unique natural sites, recreational landscapes and complexes, recreational areas that have not only a socio-economic but also a huge ecological and economic importance.
