The need for clothing is basic for each individual. In this regard, it is relevant to study the Russian market of winter outerwear in order to identify the characteristics of demand and the needs of potential buyers. This article discusses the results of a marketing study of the market for thermal insulation upper winter clothing in two central regions of Russia (Kursk and Belgorod). The main research method is an anonymous sociological survey of potential consumers of the goods. As a result of the study, it was determined that it is leading in the market of thermal insulation upper winter clothing - a down jacket. This type of clothing is especially inclined to give preference to young people. The main criteria in choosing clothes for Russians are its comfort, thermal insulation properties, functionality, quality of tailoring, price, design, naturalness, weight of the product, hypoallergenic. The choice of type of clothing does not affect the lifestyle and has little effect on age.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>As is well known, the human body cannot do without top winter clothing.
