The article presents an analysis of the world market of the hotel industry, gives a rating of the largest hotels of the world and hotel operators, and studies the presence of the international hotel operators in the market of hotel services of Russia. The new segment of travelers, the millennials, has an active impact on the development of the world hotel industry. Now, many hotel enterprises are focused on attracting this particular segment of consumers. Hotel chains are transforming their strategies, creating new sub-brands, introducing digital innovations, and changing designs of the main hotel spaces just to attract new generation consumers. Among the global trends, there is also an increase in the number of travelers using alternative accommodation facilities, in particular, the Airbnb online service has recently seriously changed the situation in the hotel services market. Thus, the transformation of consumers of hotel services in close connection with new technological and marketing solutions have already changed the existing trends in the development of the hotel industry and continue to act as a platform for the further development of these trends.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The changing needs of tourists worldwide and the need to meet their requirements contribute to the development of the world hospitality industry.
