The article discusses the theoretical and methodological questions connected with the use of GIS-technologies when carrying out recreational zoning of forest territories in the forest-steppe zone. For approbation of a technique of forest territories assessment with GIS-technologies there was created a significant amount of recreational information on forest resources of Belgorod region. The analysis of this information allowed to create some cartographical models, to reveal the directions of recreational use of forest territories, and to carry out recreational zoning
