The development and rational use of resource and recreational capacity of Belgorod region is one of the most important problems of its social and economic development. Activation of the business processes realizing the recreational potential of the territory exerts a great influence on many key industries of modern economy: transport and communication, construction, trade, production of consumer goods. Positive dynamics of growth of various services leads to the increase in the number of workplaces. Thus, active development of recreational potential acts as a peculiar catalyst of social and economic development of the territory. The article provides some information on the development of the tourist and recreational sphere in Belgorod region. The recreational capacity of the region is characterized. The regulatory base acting in the programs for development of ecological tourism is provided. The spatial database on recreational zones of the area is created. Water objects of the area and the main routes for boating are characterized. The article provides some data on unique objects of natural and historical and cultural heritage of Belgorod region. The analysis of specific structure of objects of fish fauna and tendencies of development of the infrastructure for sports and amateur fishing is given
