Graffiti objects as a resource for creating an tour route in the urban space of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

Every year more and more objects appear in every city that are aimed at shaping the cultural perception of the city by residents through understanding local identity, taking into account historical values, and creating new cultural codes. In connection with the street art festival that has been held for several years in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, more than 50 houses decorated with graffiti objects have appeared. Moreover, all artistic objects are united by the themes of history, culture, flora and fauna of the region. However, even for the local population, not all cultural symbols and messages are clear, since the city's population is often not indigenous, people come to work from all regions of Russia. With the increase in tourist flow to the region and attention to the city as an excursion site, tourists’ questions about graffiti and their meaning have become quite frequent for tour guides. A request from city guests to see the most striking murals led to the creation of one of the tour routes. The conducted research is functional and is based on historical, ethnographic, and cultural data. The main research methods are historical, descriptive and observational methods. The result of the work is an excursion text that can be used by tour guides when conducting a city tour for both visitors and citizens themselves. The testing of the route and excursion text took place within the framework of the disciplines taught at the Department of Economics, Management and Tourism of Vitus Bering Kamchatka State University. The work carried out showed that there may be several similar routes in different areas of the city. Local history sources were used in the research process.
