Scientometric Analysis of the Research Agenda in Sports Management and the Football Industry
The article presents a scientometric analysis of research activity in the field of sports management and related areas such as the sports industry and football business. The relevance of the study stems from the increasing academic and practical interest in the management aspects of sports, driven by global trends such as commercialization, digital transformation, and globalization of the sports sector. The aim of the research is to map the structure of the academic agenda and identify key trends and gaps in the development of the discipline. The methodology involves the analysis of over 900 scientific publications from Russian (eLibrary) and international (ScienceDirect) databases published between 2010 and 2024. In addition, semantic and content analysis of search queries using the AlsoAsked platform was conducted to explore associative concepts and knowledge clusters. The results reveal a consistent increase in the number of publications, the emergence of new semantic clusters, and notable differences between Russian and international research perspectives. While Russian publications often focus on pedagogical and institutional aspects, the international literature emphasizes marketing, branding, digitalization, and the economic dimension of sports organizations. The conclusions highlight the growing importance of integrating semantic and scientometric approaches to systematically advance sports management as a distinct and interdisciplinary academic field.
