A platform-based approach to youth tourism development
The emergence and development of a platform economy in the Russian Federation is a systemic process driven by a combination of factors, including the emergence of government digital transformation programs, increased digital literacy, and shifts in consumer behavior toward digital channels. The tourism and recreation industry is naturally drawn into the overall process of platformization, increasingly utilizing new tools and capabilities to build integrated digital ecosystems. However, digital platforms are usually created using fairly standardised approaches that do not differentiate between different consumer groups. This study demonstrates the need to consider the specific characteristics and unique features of youth tourism when using a platform approach. This paper presents an overview of the implementation of a platform approach in tourism in Russia using structural and functional characteristics, as well as statistical data on visits to the National Tourism Portal, and highlights the shortcomings of the Russpass platform. The paper formulates the main goals and objectives of the digital youth tourism platform, demonstrating its system-forming elements. The paper substantiates the ways in which the interests of the state and youth can be realized through the digital tourism platform. Several aspects of the development and creation of a digital tourism platform for young people are highlighted. The research demonstrates the interaction between a digital youth tourism platform and key national goals. It is concluded that a digital youth tourism platform can serve as a means of engaging the younger generation in socially significant forms of tourism with cultural, educational, and spiritual and moral focus, while developing a specialized digital architecture aimed at meeting the tourism needs of young people.
