Educational tourism and educational migration: who is interested in Russia
 

The article examines the educational services market through the prism of an export product offered by educational institutions of different countries. Exploring foreign students as consumers of educational services, the author points to the tourist component and considers them in the context of educational tourists in the destination country, where students' stay benefits both them and the territory. Research shows the high impact of international educational tourism as one of the ways to ensure the prerequisites for growth for enterprises in the tourism sector. This is considered economically beneficial for the host country and, on the other hand, helps students develop through new professional and personal experience that they cannot find in their country of origin. Describing foreign students as international educational tourists, the author focuses on time boundaries, separating the concepts of tourism and educational migration. At the same time, international educational tourism, where the duration of travel for educational purposes ranges from 24 months to 1 year (based on the UNWTO definition), certainly allows us to consider a larger number of tourists in the statistics of educational tourism. Considering that the main metric of academic mobility is the indicator of the number of foreign students, the article analyzes their flows, notes the leading countries in terms of the number of students who arrived from other countries, as well as those countries from which students leave to a greater extent. Analyzing the distribution of flows of foreign students in the world, the author focuses on the study of incoming academic mobility in our country, and based on the available statistical data, assesses the origin of mobile students in Russia, noting the importance of identifying the target audience and determining the factors influencing the attractiveness of Russian universities for foreign students. The article concludes that educational institutions should take into account the tourist component in order to maximize the prospects of learning, as well as influence the loyalty of foreign students so that they have a desire to re-visit the territory and recommend it as a place for education.
