Theoretical and methodological aspects of assessing production potential in crop farming: sustainability factors and vectors of digital transformation
The article examines the theoretical constructs and practical aspects of realizing the production potential in the crop farming subsector from a systems approach. The author clarifies the semantic content of the category "production potential of agricultural formations" and identifies its structural elements and industry-specific features that determine the specifics of the assessment. The empirical base of the study covers the dynamics of investment processes, technology intensification, and production performance in the Volgograd region for 2015-2024 in comparison with national trends. A dissonance is established between the expansion of the material and technical base and high yield volatility, indicating insufficient resilience of production potential to natural and climatic fluctuations. The key role of digital technologies (precision farming, GIS, artificial intelligence) as tools for increasing the efficiency of resource use and leveling out the instability of production results is substantiated. Priority contours of digital transformation are determined, ensuring an increase in the return on assets of production potential.
